History of Garden Oaks

Garden Oaks was established in 1937 by Edward L. Crain, a well-known developer who founded many of Houston’s neighborhoods during the first half of the twentieth century. The area still has many original pecan, oak and pine trees that gave the area its name. The community is surrounded by both original bungalows and recent and new construction homes.
